New Power Point Presentation Available

There is a new Power Point Slide Show available to introduce people to the Flotilla.  It can be seen on the Flotilla website at:   http://coastguardauxiliary.newportricheyflotilla.info/about.html .  This was developed as part of the Distance Education Class that was recently attended by Ron Dell.

New Boat Registration Law – Claudia Allbright

   The Governor signed SB 1286 containing the new boat registration law.  The full text is available online and describes the fees on page 2.  Exemptions are listed at the bottom of page 1 and top of page 2 and further exemptions are shown on page 3 (Item 14) including most of what we were asking for. According to our local DMV office "Anyone can renew their registration on a vessel, automobile or trailer three months prior to the registration renewal date; for example, if your registration expires in September, you can renew it in June.  You now also have the choice of renewing for one or two (years), the difference in price being two years is double the price.  All vessels expiring in June, July, August or September need to renew before July 1st to keep from being subject to the new renewal rates that begin July 1." In other words, if your renewal date is in June, July, August or September,  you need to get into your DMV before July 1st.

SUBJ: OPTIONAL UNTUCKED OPERATIONAL DRESS UNIFORM (ODU) PRE-ORDER OPPORTUNITY
1. THIS ALCOAST ANNOUNCES A PRE-ORDER SALE FOR THE NEW OPTIONAL UNTUCKED ODUS. THE NEW UNTUCKED ODUS FEATURE AN IMPROVED FABRIC WITH BETTER SOIL, LUBRICANT AND STAIN RESISTANCE, ALONG WITH IMPROVED COLORFASTNESS, WRINKLE RESISTANCE AND DURABILITY. 2. THE UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION CENTER (UDC) EXPECTS 10,000 SETS OF THE UNTUCKED ODU TO BE DELIVERED BY MID-AUGUST 2008. IN ORDER TO BETTER GAUGE MEMBER EXPECTATIONS AND ANTICIPATED ORDERS (SIZES AND NUMBER), THE UDC WILL ACCEPT PRE-ORDERS STARTING 18 JUNE 2008. THE ORDERS WILL BE PLACED ON A BACKORDER LOG AND WILL HAVE PRIORITY ONCE THE NEW ODUS ARRIVE. PRE-ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR ACTIVE DUTY AND RESERVISTS ONLY. WE ANTICIPATE ENOUGH INVENTORY FOR AUXILIARY MEMBER SALES AFTER 31 DECEMBER 2008.
3. THE UDC WILL ONLY ACCEPT ORDERS THROUGH THE UDC WEB SITE. IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO PRE-ORDER BY FAX OR PHONE SALES.
4. INFORMATION ABOUT ORDERING UNTUCKED ODUS, INCLUDING NEW SIZE CHARTS AND ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS, IS AVAILABLE ON THE UDC WEB SITE HOME PAGE AT  HTTP://WWW.USCG.MIL/UNIFORMS. THE UDC IS THE ONLY OFFICIAL ORDERING SITE FOR THE OPTIONAL UNTUCKED ODU.
5. COST OF THE NEW UNTUCKED SHIRT IS 35.79. COST OF THE PANTS IS 30.13. SPECIAL ORDER ODUS FOR MEMBERS REQUIRING SIZES OUTSIDE THE AVAILABLE SIZE RANGE, AS POSTED ON THE UDC WEB SITE, MAY COST SIGNIFICANTLY MORE.
6. THE UNTUCKED ODU IS CURRENTLY OPTIONAL WEAR. THE PRESENT ODU MAY BE WORN AS LONG AS IT IS IN GOOD, SERVICEABLE CONDITION UNTIL 31 DECEMBER 2012.
