VFC Smallwood asked for staff reports. FSO-AN OPEN, FSO-CM OPEN, FSO-VE OPEN, FSO-PV OPEN, FSO-MA OPEN, FSO-FN Roger Anderson, FSO-MS Jim Lichty, FSO-OP Leon/Roger, FSO-PA Harry Davies, FSO-PB Ron Dell, FSO-PE Bernard Zanetti was absent. A current ABC class is being taught for 13 students was reported. FSO-PS Rich Cove reported that we have a new member in process, Charles Lobdell, which will make five in recent history. Royochi Okisaki, former member passed away on August 1, 20008. FSO-CS Ron Dell was absent but reported that http://coastguardauxiliary.newportricheyflotilla.info/slideshow1.html contains a power point presentation about the flotilla. Please review and give comments to Ron. FSO-MT Dave Chute is conducting a Boat Crew Training program on Saturday mornings until November for four members. Dave is preparing programs for Coxswain and Personal Watercraft Operator. Coastal Navigation program begins Wednesday, August 20, 2008. FSO-IS Fred Kratochvil- FSOIS1106@verizon.net is Fred’s correct Email address. All data received has been entered into AUXDATA. Fred reports that there are continuing challenges with data that is being submitted on 7029s and 7030s. Fred would also like an opportunity to show members how the can generate report counts for monthly staff reports. A wireless internet connection is required. Fred has made this offer several times this year. FSO-MS Jim Lichty – No Report. FSO-AN Position Vacant. FSO-PA Harry Davies- No report. FSO-OP Leon Scicchitano- Absent/ Roger Anderson called for signups for patrols and Radio Watch stander for the remainder of July. Mary Skidmore reported that Ramada Inn is offering a sit down dinner $15.95 plus gratuity and a buffet for $25 plus a gratuity for our December Christmas meeting event. November 30 is the Show Palace Christmas show. We should make this decision soon, if we wish to make this arrangement. A motion was made, seconded and passed for a sit-down dinner on 10 December 2008 at $20 each. Reservations will be made through Mary Skidmore. FC COMMENTS: In JUNE I shared with you the needs we have to cover the Staff Positions in this Flotilla. Our needs are now causing significant shortcomings; No Communications Officer to see to the assignment, training and replacement of Radio Watch Standers; No Vessel Examinations Officer to see to the training of VE’s, and the assignment and operation of Vessel Safety Check Stations; No FSO-PV Officer to see to the implementation of this important Program of National Concern; and, last but by no means least – No FSO-MA to see to the Supply and re-supply of you, me, this flotilla and the many programs we are expected to maintain. NEW BUSINESS: FC: 1. The New ICS (Incident Command System) 210 Course will be offered at the 7th District Fall Conference ( 18-21 September 2008) in Jacksonville, Florida for all Coxswains and Crew as First Responders. You must pre-register; if you intend going and want to register for the training see me after this meeting and we’ll get it done. 2. I want to remind you again of the Division 11 Meeting this coming Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Tarpon Springs; starts 0900 hours – out by NOON. 3. We need a “Nominating”, “Certifying”, “Clarifying”, “Screening” Committee to clear Candidates for the Elected Positions of Flotilla Commander (FC) and Vice Flotilla Commander (FVC) for this Flotilla for the year 2009. Are there any members with burning desires to be part of this Committee? Chair Person:__Diane Ayers , Members: ___Fred Kratochvil__, and_Jessie Owens. 4. Are there any other items of “New Business” to be considered by the Membership? a. ITEM(s): A new light and antenna will be installed at the Communications Building, courtesy of a contribution by Alice Conway. Thank you, Alice. OLD BUSINESS: FC: 1. What is the status of our recognition of the “OUTSTANDING CADET” from the New Port Richey High School Cadet Corps? Roger Anderson will get a name as soon as school starts at Gulf High and the presentation will be made. 2. I have several people advise me of the expiration date of their Coast Guard Auxiliary ID (Identification) Cards. Are there anyone here who’s ID card expires within the next three (3) months. Persons & Expiration dates: Pat Cole, Paul Smith, Rich Cove, Mary Skidmore, Dave Chute, and Jessie Owens 23 October. Fred Kratochvil expired in March 2008.
